Book launch + debate on progress, next Weds in London
Come along to the Verdurin arts space in Hoxton if you can
Dear Reader,
I just wanted to alert you to a special event taking place at the Verdurin arts space in Hoxton, London, next Wednesday, 25th June.
Pierre d'Alancaisez, the founder of Verdurin, has curated ‘Progressive Agendas’, a launch for my new book The Progress Trap and a debate on all things progress and what it means to be a progressive.
I’m delighted that we’ve got a couple of really interesting speakers to speak and put forward their own, starkly different, thoughts on progress:
Environmental philosopher Professor Rupert Read, formerly spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion and now Co-Director of the Climate Majority Project.
Fraser Myers, the deputy editor of Spiked magazine, whose strapline is ‘humanity is underrated’.
The plan is that each of us will give brief pitches on what progress and progressivism mean to us. We’ll then have a conversation moderated by Pierre for another 30 minutes or so before a break and time for a drink. The second part will see questions and discussion from the audience.
Verdurin is at 2 Clunbury Str, N1 6TT.
Tickets are £10 - to be purchased on the event page. Proceedings will begin at 7pm and likely end around 9pm.
Please do come along if you can for what I hope will be an excellent, stimulating event.
