If there's one thing that needs some good PR...
The wonderful Welsh choir tradition is so badly served
The other night I was looking at Youtube videos from the Menin Gate, the magnificent monument put up in the Belgian town of Ypres/Ieper to commemorate the many missing British and Commonwealth soldiers from the terrible battles there during the First World War.
Every evening at the Menin Gate, the local Last Post Association holds a little ceremony playing The Last Post to remember the 54,395 Commonwealth soldiers whose names are engraved on the monument.*
Bigger events are sometimes held at which military bands and civilian choirs perform to accompany relatives and regimental representatives laying wreaths of remembrance at a special place within this magnificent space.
The other night I found a short two-minute video from one of these events in 2017. It is of terrible quality visually, but it had me blabbing like a baby.
