A few weeks ago, I had a chat with Louise Perry about all things progressive for her podcast Maiden Mother Matriarch. That interview is now available below. It’s audio-only, so no visual distractions, which I prefer in talks and debates online. You get to concentrate on what’s being said, which is the whole point of the exercise
I thought it was an interesting chat - and one I was greatly looking forward to given Louise’s engagement with progressivism at the level of sex, marriage and personal relations. But we talked about a lot of things - one thing that sticks in the mind is the existential situation of the progressive, committed to a vision of progress that may be falling apart around you. How do you deal with that? Not least when your relationships and maybe your job depends on continuing to have faith?
The unedited version stretched to around an hour and forty minutes. The one available to you here is just over an hour, which is probably about right. I hope you find it interesting - and feel free to post any observations here. It was a while ago and I’ve forgotten most of it, so could do with a reminder or two.
