It’s a funny progress for me because the first book I read at university was by the sociologist John Thompson, one of the founders of Polity (with Anthony Giddens and David Held) and still a leading light there.

It’s a cliché, but I never imagined that many years later I’d be writing for them. I was definitely not worthy. Hopefully I am now and the book will do well.
